The SWAT team is responsible for ensuring WM application platform stability. This team is responsible for L3/L4 incident support to identify root cause and rapid service restoration. The team members are engaged in identifying root causes for incidents and also proactive identification of patterns and trends that can lead to stability issues on the WM Application platform.
This team constitutes a set of skilled engineers with multiple skillsets that span across multiple platforms (Mainframe, Distributed Server Platform and Desktop Platform) and technologies. The individuals must have in-depth technical knowledge and expertise across multiple platforms and technologies spanning across Mainframe and Distributed systems, Operating Systems, Databases, Application Languages, Troubleshooting skills, Performance Data and Network Capture analysis skills to effectively identify rapid resolution solutions. This involves parsing logs, analyzing performance data, analyzing network data, trends and patterns to identify root cause analysis that drives platform resiliency, scalability and stability.
What you’ll bring to the role
Experience in using tools to collect logs, thread, memory, and heap dumps, provide root cause analysis based on collected data
Log analysis with tools like log parser, Splunk, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, etc. for performance turning, troubleshooting and trending, capacity analysis
In-depth knowledge in Linux OS in Enterprise environment, experience administering RHEL or similar *nix OS with focus on Apache and Tomcat configuration
Ability to understand application code, experience in common scripting languages as well as generic programming languages
Experience with Java development including Java EE, Spring, Struts as well as deploying and maintaining applications on Apache, Tomcat and IBM WebSphere platforms
Strong knowledge of TCP/IP network transport and related protocols, including HTTP; network device management ex. load balancers, proxies, firewalls; analysis of network packet captures
Knowledge of network security, including but not limited to X.509 Certificates, PKI, SSL/TLS, Kerberos/SPNEGO
Strong familiarity with database server implementations including DB2, MS SQL and Sybase; ability to understand and write SQL statements
Knowledge on ASP.NET core on linux is a bonus..
Knowledge of Virtualization and Storage Area Networks is a bonus
Troubleshooting skills is a requirement. Need to have experience in Memory/Heap/thread/Crash Dumps using Debugdiag/Windbg/Eclipse or any dump analysis tools
Candidate should show strong knowledge with Windows and / or Linux OS - Virtualization, storage, clustering
Candidate should show strong knowledge with the following Web Server technologies: IIS/ASP.Net/Apache/Tomcat
Knowledge of methods used to measure system and application performance
Knowledge of HTTP protocol required (Extrahop, Wireshark) as well as core protocols DNS/DHCP/Kerberos. Knowledge of TCP/IP and SSL/TLS is a plus
Basic development skills with .Net and / or Java
Knowledge of relational databases (DB2 / MS SQL)
Experience with Splunk, Logparser, Prometheous, Loki / Grafana
Ability to think creatively, proactively, and independently; ability to interact with a variety of teams throughout the organization; ability to facilitate meetings, prepares reports and manage metrics
Strong interpersonal skills, ability to establish and maintain positive and effective work relationships with co-workers, clients, members, providers and customers
Excellent communication and writing skills; must be able to document analysis and recommendations for both technical and business audiences.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $95,000 and $135,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
